Roku simplified the streaming of women’s sports by introducing a dedicated zone
On Wednesday, Roku, a manufacturer of streaming devices, stated that it will incorporate a specialized Women’s Sports Zone into its Sports Experience. The recently established zone will assemble live and upcoming matches, such as those from the WNBA, golf, soccer, and other sports-related films and documentaries, in one location. Content can even be customized to suit viewers’ preferred teams and viewing routines.
The launch of Women’s Sports Zone coincides with the commencement of the 2023 WNBA season that kicks off on Friday and broadcasts games across several networks such as ABC, ESPN, ION, NBA TV, CBS, CBSSN, Amazon Prime, Twitter, and the WNBA’s League Pass service.
Although Roku’s Sports Zones are useful, they have limitations in terms of content availability as they only provide sports from specific partners. Consequently, users may have to resort to searching through different apps and services to locate games that are not included in the Women’s Sports Zone.
Content was initially limited to certain providers when Sports Zones was launched in late 2020, including Apple TV, DirecTV, Fox Sports, FuboTV, Paramount Plus, Peacock, Prime Video, Sling, The Roku Channel, TNT, TBS, and truTV. Users who wish to access games on channels such as Amazon Prime and ESPN will need to use their respective apps to find and view the content.
