Apple’s patch notes state that the latest iPhone update fixes almost 40 bugs and issues, including three security vulnerabilities which could be exploited. Apple developed WebKit which is the engine that powers Safari, and these three security flaws are related to it.

These issues can allow third parties to access sensitive information and execute commands without your knowledge. If you missed the iOS 16.4.1 release, which was the first iPhone Rapid Security Response to be released, 16.5 contains fixes for these issues. Third issue: A third party could gain access to your device’s information beyond what is permitted.

Apple’s iOS update fixes a bug that allowed someone to access your contacts through your lock screen. Apple offers ways to customize the lock screen. However, some users have experienced issues with their lock screen allowing others to access iPhone features like messages, Wallet, and replying to them.

The update also includes patches that stop some apps from bypassing privacy settings, block some apps reading sensitive location data and prevent app termination when you open a PDF document.
