Amazon’s Echo Pop, a sleek and trendy device, headlines the new range of Alexa-enabled speakers
On Wednesday, Amazon announced the expansion of its Alexa-powered Echo smart device range with the introduction of the budget-friendly Echo Pop smart speaker, an updated version of the Echo Show 5 smart display, and a set of Echo Buds.
The Echo Pop is a newly launched Alexa smart speaker by Amazon, which costs $40 and boasts a semispherical shape reminiscent of the Harman Kardon Onyx. This speaker is specifically made for compact rooms and is available in several shades, such as lavender and teal. Along with other Alexa speakers launched on the same day, the Pop incorporates Amazon’s AZ2 Neural Edge processor that purportedly enhances its speed by 20%. Additionally, it can multiply the home mesh network via its Eero function.

According to CNET, Rohit Prasad, the SVP of Amazon, stated that there was a 40% increase in purchases made through Alexa devices over the past year, with the majority of those purchases occurring on devices equipped with a screen.
Amazon has enhanced the sound quality of its most recent Echo smart display. In order to achieve this, Amazon released a new version of its Echo Show 5, costing $90, which features a redesigned speaker system, resulting in better clarity and bass. Additionally, the Alexa-powered smart display boasts an improved microphone array, and is available in pale blue, charcoal black, and white. Similarly, the Echo Show 5 Kids, priced at $100, has undergone the same modifications and is accompanied by a new space-themed design.

Finally, the Echo Buds priced at $50 are a simplified variant of the current $120 Echo Buds lacking active noise cancellation. Nevertheless, they possess the identical 20-hour lifespan of the battery. Differently, the design of the Echo Buds is similar to the AirPods, having elongated stems, and Amazon assures improved comfort as compared to earlier.

In terms of sales of smart devices, including the Echo Dot, Amazon is ahead of both Google and Apple. However, the company is facing rising competition from Google with the recent launch of its hybrid smart display, the Pixel Tablet.
The Echo Pop, Echo Show 5, and Echo Show 5 Kids are scheduled to commence shipping from May 31st, while the Echo Buds will start shipping from June 7th.
